Dr. Karin Coles is the Clinical Director and Supervisor at Coles Psychology Services. A licensed and registered psychologist, and a former teacher and school principal with 20 years experience in Calgary school systems, Dr. Karin works with individuals and their families to provide comprehensive assessments with expertise in learning disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders, social/emotional functioning, and giftedness. She is also an associate faculty member of the University of Calgary, where she instructs graduate students in cognitive and psychoeducational assessment and supervises graduate level practicum students.

Nicola works with individuals and their families to provide comprehensive assessments for neurodevelopmental disorders, learning disorders, giftedness, social-emotional and executive functioning. When working with clients, Nicola takes a strength based, culturally sensitive and gender inclusive approach. Nicola has experience working with children, adolescents, emerging adults and adults, providing assessment, supports and advocacy for each client’s needs. Previously, Nicola provided counselling services for personality disorders, neurodevelopmental disorders and long-term disability programs.
Nicola is a Registered Psychologist in the province of Alberta. Nicola has specialized training in Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2), the Autism Diagnostic Inventory-Revised (ADI-R), accelerated resolution therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (insomnia) and dialectical behaviour therapy.
Previously, Nicola worked in the fields of exercise physiology, massage therapy and school administration support, and believes that psychology is accumulative of lifelong learning and experience. She completed her Master of Counselling from the City University of Seattle, Calgary Campus. Nicola researched the social construction of various mental health outcomes, with her capstone project focused specifically on the social determinants, constructs and beliefs surrounding postpartum depression.

Hazel Palmer is a Registered Provisional Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. She holds a Master of Education degree with a specialization in School and Applied Child Psychology from the University of Calgary, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Neuroscience and Mental Health with a minor in Psychology from Carleton University. Hazel has completed additional certifications in Facing Your Fears (FYF) Facilitator Training, the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS-2) including the toddler module, and the Autism Diagnostic Inventory-Revised (ADI-R).
Hazel has received training and experience delivering comprehensive assessments in the areas of neurodevelopmental disorders, social and emotional functioning, and learning disorders under the supervision of registered psychologists across clinic, community, and school-based settings. She also facilitates and co-facilitates programs and group intervention for children and parents supporting a variety of needs including Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), social-emotional learning, social skills, emotion regulation, and anxiety. Additionally, Hazel provides counselling services to children, adolescents, and young adults in the areas of anxiety, self-efficacy beliefs, emotion regulation, stress management, and executive functioning.
At Coles Psychology Services, Hazel provides comprehensive assessments in the areas of neurodevelopmental disorders, social and emotional functioning, and learning disorders under the supervision of Dr. Karin Coles.
Hazel is passionate about empowering individuals to understand how they learn, better understand themselves, and discover the conditions they need to thrive and achieve their own definition of success. She takes a client-centred and strengths-based approach that respects cultural diversity and neurodiversity. She values the opportunity to collaborate with each individual and their support network to provide practical support that is positive and sustainable.
